About MeI am a visual artist based in Atlanta, Arkansas specializing in both photography and filmmaking. Growing up in the rural south my whole life I’ve been surrounded by wonderous stories. Stories of buried treasure, heartbreak, sorrow, family, and happiness. To be able to take these stories that I have had the privilege to learn and grow from and share them with the world is the most rewarding quality I find in my work. Stylistically, my documentary films paint a surreal portrait of the documentary’s subject, as I try to craft my projects to feel almost like an extension of the subject themself. My current photo work deals with issues of sexuality, gender, and religion through the lens of hyper-queer-camp merging with the deep-fried Southern culture of Arkansas. A lot of my inspiration comes from growing up as a closeted small town queer person and I try to frame my experiences in a light that is both humorous and haunting. The work is crafted using self-portraits and digital collage in order to create a home for the stylized characters I’ve imagined. |
